Barricaded couple arrested by Oxnard police Friday

A man and a woman who barricaded themselves in a room during an attempted probation check Friday night were arrested, the Oxnard Police Department reported Saturday.

Pablo Reynosa, 42, of Oxnard, was arrested on suspicion of multiple felony weapons charges after being barricaded in a room for multiple hours.

The incident led to a two-hour standoff as police surrounded a residence in Oxnard's La Colonia neighborhood. Officers had been told the man possessed at least two firearms.

At about 7:30 p.m. Friday, officers from the department's special enforcement unit went to the 100 block of Lupita Street, south of Colonia Park on east First Street, to conduct a probation search and compliance check on Pablo Reynosa, 42. Reynosa is a convicted felon who was on probation for burglary, the department reported. He was previously indicted in 2011's "Operation Supernova," which targeted drug traffickers associated with Oxnard's Colonia Chiques criminal street gang, according to police.

When officers arrived, Reynosa and the woman reportedly barricaded themselves in a room at the home. Officers were reportedly told Reynosa had at least two firearms. A records check also showed the woman, 38-year-old Marie Salas of Oxnard, had a felony warrant, police say.

Officers who surrounded the residence tried to make contact for more than two hours, authorities say. Reynosa and Salas eventually surrendered without incident.

A search of the room uncovered three handgun magazines, one of which was loaded, and a stun gun, authorities said.

Reynosa was arrested on suspicion of being a felon in possession of ammunition, a potential felony offense. He also faces potential misdemeanor charges of being a felon in possession of a stun gun and resisting arrest, online jail records show. He remained in Ventura County jail Saturday morning with bail set at $15,000.

Salas was arrested on the felony warrant and on suspicion of a misdemeanor resisting arrest offense, jail records show, with bail set at $15,000.

Marie Salas, 38, of Oxnard, was arrested late Friday night for an outstanding felony warrant after being barricaded in a room for multiple hours.
