Pamela Tronetti

Parrish elects Tronetti

The Parrish Medical Center medical staff recently elected Dr. Pamela Tronetti as president of the hospital’s medical staff. She is the first woman and first doctor of osteopathic medicine to hold the position.

Tronetti, board-certified and fellowship-trained in family practice and geriatric medicine physician, will serve as president in 2018.

As medical staff president, Dr. Tronetti is an ex-officio member of the PMC Board of Directors, presides over the Medical Executive Committee, and all medical staff committees and departments. She succeeds as medical staff president Aluino L. Ochoa, MD, who served throughout 2017.

“Quality and safety are at the heart of everything that Parrish does and our physicians play a leadership role,” Tronetti said. “I have the privilege to work with physicians who practice evidence-based medicine based on national standards while retaining that small-town touch.

Tronetti received her medical degree from the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; completed her internship and residency of general practice at the Millcreek Community Hospital in Erie, Pennsylvania; and a fellowship at the Philadelphia Geriatric Center in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

Schools tech discount

Brevard Public Schools

Brevard Public Schools recently was approved for $7.9 million in technology discounts for the 2016 and 2017 E-Rate program filing years. This approval, in combination with sales surtax educational-technology funds, will allow BPS to provide wireless connectivity to every classroom by April 2018.

The federally-administered E-rate program was established in 1996 to create equal telecommunications access across the country’s K-12 education and library systems. In 2015, the program was modernized placing emphasis on wireless broadband equipment and services required to deliver digital resources to our schools and libraries.

“These enhancements are how our students expect to learn in this digital age,” said Russell Cheatham, BPS’ chief information officer. “The challenge becomes putting new sustainable devices in the hand of our students with many competing educational needs.”

Discounts are applied to specific services such as Internet, telecommunication and network and wireless equipment purchases. The district uses a combination of reimbursable and upfront purchase discounts.
