Police log: Police warn people to lock their vehicle doors

CHAMBERSBURG - State police are warning residents to keep their vehicles locked up after troopers investigated 26 separate incidents of thefts from motor vehicles last month.

A majority of those incidents involved vehicles that were left unlocked, Pennsylvania State Police, Chambersburg, said.

In addition to advising that people store purses, wallets, electronics and all other valuable items out of plain view, police also recommended not keeping anything of value in a vehicle.

BURGLARY: Police are seeking information about a burglary that happened at about 2:30 a.m. Jan. 8 at Taco Bell in the 900 block of Lincoln Way West. Chambersburg Police received a report that a man entered the building, stole money, then fled on foot, the report shows. BURGLARY: Two Stihl 420 metal cut-off saws were stolen from a construction site at Menno Haven, 2075 Scotland Ave., between Jan. 1 and Jan. 8, according to Chambersburg Police. The saws are worth a total of $1,950. 

HIT AND RUN: Police are seeking information about a hit-and-run in which a tractor-trailer hit and damaged several utility boxes at the intersection of North Parkwood Drive and Norland Avenue, Chambersburg, at about 12:05 p.m. Jan. 9. According to Chambersburg Police, the incident caused substantial damage and a power outage. The tractor-trailer was described as a red tractor pulling a white box trailer.
