Phi Phi Island, Vanuatu or Maldives anyone? International Holiday Inn Resort locations on points

There are several international Holiday Inn Resorts in true resort locations like the Maldives (35,000 points per night), Phi Phi Island in Thailand (35,000 points) and Aruba (25,000 points per night). Availability looked wide open worldwide for dates I checked April 21-23, 2014.

Each of these properties offers Points & Cash whereby $70 per night reduces the cost of the hotel reward stay by 10,000 points per night.

All these properties can be seen on a World map or click on the links below to see individual hotel property descriptions.

Wow! Hotels in Phi Phi? I stayed in Phi Phi in 1992 for four days. Beach front property, cold shower, an actual bed, clean, clean sparkling beaches, and wow…. I think I paid $6.00 for the whole time. We arrived by ferry. Absolutely beautiful. One day I’ll return… but there are more places to visit.

Don’t make the same mistake that I did. I stayed at the HI Kandooma over New Years this past year and it was only 15k points per night. It was one of the worst mistakes I could have ever done and that was 15K points per night. The lesson I learned is don’t budget travel to the Maldives.

If you want my trip review, feel free to email me and I will send it.

  • All of the above! We stayed at the HI Phuket in the Busakorn villas and it was actually quite nice!

What this post doesnt really tell you is which of these is good value! Thailan probably not I’d say since hotels can be got cheap there anyway!

I think phiphi is not as much fun as it was before. The holiday inn is not on the main beach which is good. We stopped by there last year (we were staying in another island) it is too packed and loud now a days. We ha our first date there in 2000 and we took our four kids to see where it all started.

South Pacific looks nice in Vanuatu 🙂 we do like the Maldives (park Hyatt) but someone else here said they didn’t like it.

@Steve – Value is in the eyes of the guest. I would look for $10 per 1,000 points hotel rate savings meaning I’d like to get a $200 room night for 20,000 points. Or save at least $100 on the room rate with a Cash & Points rate paying $70 and spending 10,000 points to save $100 per night.

IHG offers hotel reviews on the webpages for properties and then there is TripAdvisor.com and FlyerTalk for hotel reviews.

The only hotel on the list where I have stayed is Running Y Ranch at Klamath Falls, Oregon.

Incredible value at 5,000 points per night on PointBreaks in July 2012 when I stayed 3 nights. In the country, near Klamath Lake and convenient for a day trip drive to Crater Lake National Park. Listening to birds there while at least a mile from another person sitting beside the lake was an incredible experience.
