Details on Starwood’s First Quarter Promotion Are Out

Starwood has announced ‘Bring on the Nights’ which will provide 2500 bonus points for every 5 nights (up to 10,000 points for 20 nights) between January 5 and April 30. In addition, hitting 25 eligible nights during the promotion period will award an additional 5000 points.

This really isn’t that generous. It’s 500 extra points per night, but only for 5 night increments, so many members will average fewer bonus points (since their total nights will not be in increments of 5). Maxing out the promotion with 25 nights exactly pushes up average earning to 600 points.

The first quarter is traditionally slow, so I wouldn’t expect better promotions to be coming along in the immediate term. This is a reflection of the strength of the lodging sector of the economy, Starwood doesn’t need to dig deep to goose heads in beds for most of their hotels.

On the plus side though all Starwood properties are participating in this promotion. There are no excluded hotels, which leads me to guess that the program itself is funding all or more of the promo.

Registration will open in mid-Cecember.

  1. Any chance the bonus nights that are automatically awarded to your account when you have a Starwood Amex will count towards the 5 night increments?

  2. Someone quick call Starwood and tell them they left a zero off their promotion. Seriously, you make it halfway to Platinum in 3 months and don’t earn enough points for one night in a decent resort? Very disappointing promo. Almost insulting.
