Every few months, Air France announces their Promo Awards, where you can redeem Air France miles (which can be transferred in from American Express at a 1:1 ratio) for discounted awards of either 25% or 50% off.

One of the best value redemptions here is their US to Europe awards for only 25,000 miles round-trip in Economy. To take advantage of these offers you must book by the end of November, for travel through March 31, 2014. Other origin cities in the US this time around are Los Angeles, San Francisco, Chicago, Houston and Washington D.C. for discounted economy awards to Europe.

If you are looking for discounted business class awards, they are offering those as well and you get redemptions of either 25% or 50% off depending on the origin city.

For instance, I was able to book an Economy award for only 25,000 miles and $259 in taxes and fees from Los Angeles to Paris. Not such a bad deal

Bottom Line

Air France Promo Awards can be a cheap way to get to Europe, so be sure to have a look at them if you are thinking of going to Europe. Having American Express as a transfer partner, means transferring to Air France is quite easy.

  1. There are 2 aspects I question about this, which is what potentially doesn’t make it a good deal. First, are there fuel surcharges, like so many international awards from foreign frequent flyer programs have? Also, travel has to be done by March 31, how much award space availability is there?
