Artist Cynthia Johnson takes a breather at her reception.

Johnson has established her residence in the growing Carrizozo artists' community, and soon will open a studio gallery of her own there. She spoke about plans for Carrizozo to participate in the annual international World Art Day, April 15, 2018, to about 50 local artists, civic leaders and art enthusiasts.

World Art Day is an international celebration of the fine arts, which was established by the International Association of Art to promote awareness of creative activity worldwide.

Malkerson Gallery 408 owner Warren Malkerson greets the crowd of approximately 50 local artists and enthusiasts at the Tularosa Basin Gallery.
