Listen to your plants and to other farmers

Results of the 2017 South Dakota Soybean Yield Contest reflect the challenges of the state’s 2017 growing season.  They ranged from severe drought to wind, hail and standing water.  None of the contest entries broke 100 bushels to the acre, although Kory Standy’s soybean yields came the closest.  The

South Dakota grower claimed the top two spots in the overall yield race with a best of 92.22 bushels to the acre.

Standy, who irrigates, recommends that farmers listen to experts as well as other farmers and not be fearful of trying something for the first time.
