Woman charged with trying to steal more than $700 in clothes, baby products from Target

Marjorie McIntire, 45, was arrested and charged with shoplifting.

Collier sheriff's deputies say they caught a shoplifter who frequents Target stores in Collier and Lee counties after she tried to steal $700 worth of clothes and baby products.

Marjorie McIntire, 45, of Naples, faces a grand theft charge after she tried to shoplift more than 51 items about 2 p.m. on Nov. 10, according to a Collier County Sheriff's Office arrest report.

A store loss prevention manager at the Target off Immokalee Road at Tarpon Bay in North Naples observed McIntire pushing a shopping cart full of loose items toward the store's exit, the report said.

She couldn't provide a receipt when asked for one, the report said. The manager asked her to leave the shopping cart, and she left the store.

Deputies reported surveillance footage showed McIntire passing every register without paying.

Two other Target stores, one off Pine Ridge Road and another at the Gulf Coast Town Center in Fort Myers, reported similar incidents with McIntire, the report stated.

She was found and arrested Friday at her home.

McIntire told authorities it wasn't her intention to steal. She said she was having issues with her husband and she didn't know where she was or what she was doing when she was walking out of Target that day, according to the report.

She was also charged with driving with a revoked license and with retail petit theft in connection with the reported incident at Target off Pine Ridge Road. Charges are pending in Lee County.
