Review your crop insurance policy

While making plans for the next growing season, Jessica Hamill, Crop Insurance Specialist with FCS Financial in Missouri advises farmers to take time to review their current crop insurance policy.

“Look over your policy.  Don’t just always do the same thing you’ve done  year to year to year.”

As margins tighten on most farms, Hamill tells Brownfield now is the time to take examine the numerous options that have been added in recent years and evaluate your crop insurance policy.

“There are thousands of different options that have been added,” she tells Brownfield.  “There are ways to increase your coverage.  There’s ways to make your policy stronger.”

Hamill encourages farmers to have the conversation with their crop insurance agent to determine the best fit for their farm.

The crop insurance sales closing date for corn, soybeans and spring wheat is March 15, 2018.
