Southcentral Pennsylvania could see a coating to an inch of snow on Saturday, Dec. 9.

Southcentral Pennsylvania will almost certainly see its first snowfall of the season this weekend.

Accuweather is calling for a coating to an inch of snow Saturday for York, Lebanon, Lancaster and Dauphin counties as a storm moves up the east coast, according to senior meteorologist Paul Walker.

The chance of snow is 80 percent.

“There’s a slim chance (the storm) goes farther to the east and we miss out on it,” Walker said. “It seems pretty likely that there will be some snow in the area.”

The Chambersburg area could also see some snow, but might miss out on getting much, if any, accumulation, Walker said.

“We’ll have to see how much moisture gets spread that far west,” he said.

The snow is expected to arrive in the Harrisburg area by late Saturday morning and continue off and on throughout the day.

“People should take it easy,” Walker said. “Even a little bit of snow if it gets packed down could get a little slippery.”
