IU, Butler offer college advice to rapper Lil B: Get a GED and give us a call
When I began looking at colleges in high school, I asked my guidance counselor and students who had already graduated for advice.
But in 2017, when you're a famous rapper with a massive social media following, you can go to Twitter for help to figure out your future. Which is what Lil B did Thursday.
The 28-year-old rapper (real name: Brandon McCartney) expressed a desire to further his education in a tweet Thursday, indicating he had an interest science, biology and neuroscience.
"I want to offer more to the American people and globally as well as animals what university will accept me?" he tweeted.
Many of his fans tweeted back, asking him to join them at their schools. But several universities did, too — including Indiana University and Butler.
Both institutions told the rapper, who said he didn't finish high school, he'd need a GED to attend.
Other universities like Penn State, University of South Carolina and Stanford also extended conditional invites.
Hats off to the rapper for looking to challenge himself academically. Time will tell if we ever see a letter of intent from him.
