Welcome

Welcome to my blog, SCRIBBLING TO (IN)SANITY! First time here? I'm a romance writer who wants to believe most problems can be solved over coffee, a mixed drink or by anything covered in chocolate. I'm a believer in second chances and that it's always the right time to fall in love. As the saying goes, you're a guest in my house only once...then you're family. So I invite you to join the fun! I love comments but it's okay to lurk too - just know I'm glad you've found me and I hope you visit me again soon!

When the eReader dies...

I've had a Nook in my bag for at least 4 years now - since I read a lot, it gets constant use. Over the years I've toyed with the idea of trying out the Kindle, but for a bunch of reasons, I always end up back with the Nook.

I still have the original, black and white - non touchscreen, original model and it still holds a charge and works fine.

But, because I'm always lured by shiny and new...two years ago I put aside my basic model and switched over to the Nook Tablet. I immediately fell in love with the versatility, the crisp color and the touch screen.

Last week...it died.

Over the weekend, Hubby and I scoured the stores while I held the devices in my hand...seriously thinking of making the switch to the Kindle this time.

Then I found the Nook HD. The 10inch 32GB HD...

Immediately fell in love. (I know, I'm easy...)

Ok, It's too big to fit inside my purse, but it is really light.

I charged it up, entered my B&N account info and all my books and apps appeared. :) Yes, I did the happy girl dance.

I'll admit when I first got my Nook I wasn't convinced reading on an electronic device was going to work for me - I let that thing sit on my nightstand for weeks before I really embraced it and gave it a try.

Now? I don't go anywhere my eReader. It surprised me that I went for the larger model this time - and I admit I was a little nervous about it being bulky. I carried it around the store for almost an hour with my husband just shaking his head behind me. But, last night as I lay in bed and powered it up - I'm happy with my choice.

Are you happy with your eReader and what will you choose the next time your eReader dies?

  1. I think I'll be tempted to switch to Kindle on my next--if there IS a next--purchase. Just seem to be more options on Amazon... maybe. Or maybe it's just that I'm over there more, so that every time I see something I like or want, I'm hopping over to BN to see if it's there... and sometimes, it's not. *sigh*

I don't know. The only better option is some kind of tablet or Pad that I can download both apps to. :D

  2. I have the original keyboard Kindle and a new Paperwhite for reading in bed at night without keeping my wife awake. I also have the Kindle app on my PC, iPad, iPhone and Android tablet. So, plenty of options. Should one Kindle die, I will buy a newer model to replace it. Love my books, love my e-readers.
