Want to check flight timetables, inventory or airport lounge locations but can’t seem to get out of the Twitter interface? Good news: there’s now a solution for that problem! Those three query types are part of the core functionality in the Wandering Aramean Travel Tools suite and today I’ve opened up access to them via the Twitter API and a dedicated account: @Ask_WATT.
The gist of it is that you send a tweet @Ask_WATT and, assuming the query is properly formatted, it will reply back with details. Here are a few examples of what the conversations look like:
Oh, and on the inventory front, most award searches will fail right now. It is using an Apollo interface which most airlines don’t publish award buckets in to. You can search for the same airlines/awards as are available at http://www.wandr.me/Award-Search.aspx/ but other than that not so much.
It isn’t perfect – far from it, really. But I’ve had some great help from a group of beta testers this afternoon and I think it is close enough to functional to put it out there and see what happens. Give it a go and let me know what you think!
