High school football teams from across the state begin their quests for a TSSAA state football championship.

The TSSAA's high school football state championships, coined the BlueCross Bowl, will be held at Tennessee Tech's Tucker Stadium in Cookeville Thursday through Saturday.

The high school athletic association will crown nine state champions by the end of the weekend — one more from a year ago.

Here are the matchups and days played:

Thursday's games

Class 1A: Greenback (12-1) vs. Cornersville, (13-1), 11 a.m.

Class 3A: Alcoa (12-2) vs. Covington (13-1), 3 p.m.

Class 5A: Knoxville Catholic (11-3) vs. Beech (14-0), 7 p.m.

Friday's games

Class 2A: Chattanooga Tyner (12-2) vs. Union City (12-2), 11 a.m.

Class 4A: Greeneville (14-0) vs. Springfield (11-3), 3 p.m.

Class 6A: Cane Ridge (13-1) vs. Maryville (13-1), 7 p.m.

Saturday's Games

Division II-A: Friendship Christian (12-0) vs. DCA (9-3), 11 a.m.
