Knoxville area high school football top 10 teams coming out of the semifinals

1. Maryville (13-1) — Dylan Hopkins threw for 150 yards and a touchdown along with 81 rushing yards and a touchdown catch in the win over Oakland to make it to the 6A state final. Last week: No. 1. This week: vs Cane Ridge.

2. Catholic (11-3) — Jack Sompayrac threw for two touchdowns and ran for two more in the win over Central  to help the Fighting Irish to the 5A state final. Last week: No. 2. This week: vs Beech.

3. Greeneville (14-0) — Cade Ballard threw for two touchdowns and ran for two more with more than 300 all-purpose yards in the win over Marshall County to help the Greene Devils to the 4A state final. Last week: No. 3. This week: vs. Springfield.

4. Alcoa (12-2) — Walker Russell threw for 173 yards as the Tornadoes shut out Red Bank to make it to the 3A state final, looking for their ninth championship under Gary Rankin. Last week: No. 4. This week: vs. Covington.

5. Farragut (9-3) — The Admirals started their season strong, winning their first seven games. They tripped up at the end, though, finishing 2-3 in the final five games and were knocked out by Maryville in the second round. Last week: No. 5. Season over

6. Oak Ridge (10-3) — The Wildcats rode a tight defense all season. They played Catholic close in their 5A quarterfinal, but couldn't quite keep up with the Irish's offense. Last week: No.6. Season over.

7. Anderson Co. (12-1) — The Mavericks challenged Greeneville in their 4A quarterfinal  and went up 21-0 early. But they couldn't maintain the lead, as quarterback Stanton Martin played on a torn ACL. Last week: No. 9. Season over.

8. Fulton (9-3) — The Falcons made it easy through their first four games, before hitting a road block in Maryville. Tight defenses proved difficult for Fulton's big offense. The Falcons were knocked out by Catholic in the second round of the 5A playoffs. Last week: No. 8. Season over.

9. Central (8-6) — The Bobcats started the season 1-3 and lost their starting and backup quarterbacks to injuries. They made adjustments and relied on a strong defense, but couldn't keep up with Catholic in the semifinals. Last week: No. 7. This week: vs. Catholic.

10. Greenback (12-1) — Seth Riddle caught four passes for 107 yards and one touchdown in the win over South Pittsburg to help the Cherokees to their third straight 1A final. Last week: No. 10. This week: vs Cornersville.
