FMC Corporation says DuPont acquisition good for farmers

Mike Krall

An official with FMC Corporation says their recent acquisition of several DuPont crop protection products will be beneficial for farmers.

Mike Krall tells Brownfield, “We’re actually acquiring fifteen new active ingredients which are in early-stage from discovery forward.  We also have a library we’re acquiring of one-point-eight million new compounds from the DuPont folks.  We did have in our research pipeline about twelve new active ingredients.”

Krall says FMC will remain focused on crop protection and can work with any seed company.  “We won’t have that tie and bind to the seeds business and the seed trait, so our focus is really as we see it, as an opportunity to bring more offers to the growers and we see this as a way to become better partners with farming.”

Krall says farmers should expect many new chemistry and equipment developments from FMC.  He says the DuPont products, libraries, and many of their staff became part of FMC at the beginning of November.

Philadelphia-based FMC makes insecticides, fungicides, and herbicides for the producers of row crops, vegetables, fruit, and nuts.

Krall spoke with Brownfield during the National Association of Farm Broadcasting conference in Kansas City.
