The two men had been drinking alcohol at the same Evansville tavern before they drove separate cars eastbound on highway M, authorities said.

Jeremy J. Engen, 29, failed to stop his vehicle at a stop sign at Highway H and the vehicle entered a field where it rolled over shortly after 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, according to the Sheriff's Office. One of Engen's arms was trapped under the vehicle.

William R. Young, 41, stopped his vehicle to help Engen.

Both men were arrested for operating while intoxicated after emergency responders were able to extricate Engen.

The arrest is Young's 4th OWI offense, a felony, and he was taken to the Rock County Jail.

Engen was taken to a local hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries. In addition to the OWI-1st offense, he faces charges of failure to have motor vehicle insurance, failure to stop at a stop sign, non-registration of a vehicle and failure to wear a seatbelt.
