A Lehigh Acres driver was arrested Wednesday after she hit a bicyclist in Immokalee and fled the scene, troopers said.

Isabel Maria Irias, 24, faces charges of leaving a scene with serious bodily injury, driving while her license was canceled, causing a crash with serious bodily injury and failure to yield at a stop intersection, according to a Florida Highway Patrol report.

The bicyclist, J Justino Alva Garcia, of Immokalee, was taken to NCH North Naples Hospital with serious injuries.

Garcia, 69, was riding a bicycle south on the sidewalk on the east shoulder of State Road 29 in Immokalee, approaching the driveway access of 603 N. 15th St. about 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, the report states.

About the same time, Irias was traveling west on the driveway, approaching S.R. 29, troopers said. As Irias was looking at traffic, Garcia began to cross the marked crosswalk, the report states.

Irias' 2002 Honda Civic then traveled forward and its front left side struck the left side of Garcia, troopers said.

Shortly after the crash, Irias fled, driving north on S.R. 29 before she was stopped by Collier County Sheriff's Office deputies, the report states.
