A former Milwaukee Wave soccer player is accused of driving a suspected shooter away from a fender bender, according to court records.

Tyrone Gordon, 32, and Evan Brookshire, 28, are charged with two counts of attempted first-degree intentional homicide, both as a party to the crime.

Prosecutors say Gordon, the former soccer player, was driving a car on June 30 when he rear-ended someone and Brookshire, one of his passengers, got out and shot at the other vehicle's occupants, wounding two of them.

According to the criminal complaint:

Gordon told Milwaukee detectives he was driving on Appleton Ave. when he bumped into the car in front of him at a stop light.

He said he and the other driver got of their cars to check the damage and, seeing none, returned to their vehicles. Gordon said he saw Brookshire and a passenger from the other car exchange words and then Brookshire shooting.

Two men in the other car were hit by gunfire, one in the chest and the other in the leg.

Brookshire is scheduled for a plea hearing Jan. 12, and Gordon is slated for a final pretrial hearing Jan. 26, according to online court records.

Gordon played for the Wave from 2006 to 2008.

Last summer, he volunteered to help the Vincent High School soccer team during practices, but the arrangement was terminated Aug. 30 and he had no contact with the team after then, according to Denise Callaway, Milwaukee Public Schools spokeswoman.

"He was initially hired to provide part-time recreation support in August 2016 and released from that position in June 2017," Callaway said in an email.

At his hiring date, he passed a background check because there were no criminal charges, she said.

Gordon is currently not employed in any capacity by the school district, she said.
