Mike McCoy is out as Denver's offensive coordinator.

The Denver Broncos announced Monday morning that they have fired offensive coordinator Mike McCoy.

McCoy was in his second stint with the Broncos after serving as their offensive coordinator from 2009-12. He spent four seasons as head coach of the San Diego Chargers but was fired at the completion of last season. He rejoined the Broncos in January under first-year coach Vance Joseph.

The Broncos announced that quarterbacks coach Bill Musgrave will take over as the team's offensive coordinator and Klint Kubiak, the oldest son of former Broncos head coach Gary Kubiak, will coach the quarterbacks in his place.

"Bill is an experienced coordinator and play-caller in this league, and I'm confident he will help get our offense back on track," Joseph said in a statement. "I have a responsibility to do what's best for our football team. Although this wasn't an easy decision, we needed to make this change."

NFL Network first reported the news.

The Broncos lost their sixth consecutive game Sunday — 20-17 to the Cincinnati Bengals — and are 3-7. Through the first 10 games of the season, they have averaged just 18.3 points and scored more than 25 points only once while switching quarterbacks from Trevor Siemian to Brock Osweiler.
