Camarillo woman arrested after help from public

Staff reports

Tipsters helped lead Camarillo police to a woman suspected of identity theft and possession of stolen property.

Corrina Navarro

Corrina Navarro, 35, of Camarillo, was arrested Thursday after a three-week investigation into stolen checks.

On Oct. 26, a Camarillo resident notified police that personal checks had been stolen, police said.

Officers said they learned the checks were deposited into an ATM at a local bank, which provided security photos of the woman.

When detectives shared the images with the public, they received numerous anonymous tips, including one that identified Navarro, police said.

Detectives said they later found additional evidence implicating the woman and they were able to confirm Navarro was the suspect in the photos.

The Camarillo Police Department said Navarro was arrested at a local motel on felony suspicion of possession of stolen property and felony identity theft.
