Christmas tree lighting set for Nov. 26 at the Inn of the Mountain Gods

Activity stations will keep children and adults busy while waiting for the lighting.

The Inn of the Mountain Gods will flip the switch for the annual Christmas Tree Lighting at 6 p.m., Sunday, Nov. 26, but the afternoon before the lights go on will be filled with activities for the family.

The Inn of the Mountain Gods sts on the edge of Lake Mescalero after a winter snow.

“Our Christmas Tree Lighting event is a great way to usher in the holiday season,” Frizzell Frizzell Jr., COO at Inn of the Mountain Gods, said. “We are proud to offer something that brings both families and communities together in a fun and festive way.”

With a Polar Express theme, the event from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m., will feature a variety of activity stations, including Christmas card making, Santa hat snack making, snowflake decorating, Christmas wish list building, cookie decorating, story time and more. The All Aboard Tree Lighting will include refreshments like hot cocoa, apple cider, and cookies from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m., plus pictures with Santa until 4:30 p.m. 

The event starts at 2 p.m. with a Barnes & Noble Pop-Up Store and pictures with Santa until 4:30 p.m. Guests then will be treated to choir music until 5:30 p.m. Finally, the night will end with the lighting of the Christmas tree at 6 p.m. Children are encouraged to immerse into the spirit of the evening by wearing their favorite pajamas.

Family, friends, and good times are the reason for the season and there is no better way to celebrate than with family fun and a Christmas tree lighting.  Participation is free in the Barnes & Noble Pop-Up Store from 1 p.m. to 5:30 p.m., and to snap a picture with Santa until 4:30 p.m., choir music from 4:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m., also is free, as well as the lighting of the Christmas tree at 6 p.m.

Tickets for the fun activity stations including Christmas card making, Santa hat snack making and snowflake decorating are $10 and include a Polar Express book. For tickets and more information, visit innofthemountaingods.com.
