CHAMBERSBURG - A Chambersburg man faces charges after a woman discovered her nude photo had been shared on an online dating website after two strangers randomly showed up at her home looking for a "date."

John Willis Mercier, 33, was charged with misdemeanor unlawful dissemination of an intimate image, according to court documents.

Pennsylvania State Police, Chambersburg met with the woman around 11 p.m. Oct. 9, at a residence on Heintzelman Avenue in Hamilton Township. She said there was a nude photo of herself on a dating website that was posted without her knowledge or consent.

The woman told police that about an hour before she called them, two men showed up at her house looking for a date. The men told her they had seen a nude image of her on www.MeetMe.com, an online dating website, and were given her name, address and phone number to meet her.

The woman believed Mercier was the one that took the photo, sometime between Oct. 1 and 3, while the two were involved.

Police interviewed Mercier on Oct. 16, according to court documents. He claimed the woman was acting strange one day, and he believed she was talking with other guys. When the woman was asleep, he went through her phone and found her MeetMe account.

Mercier said that upon seeing her account, he believed she was "engaging in prostitution," according to court documents, and became angry. Mercier was able to get into the woman's account, posted the nude photo and sent it to contacts listed in the account.
