AGCO Jackson facility recognized for manufacturing excellence

The director of operations for an AGCO equipment facility in southern Minnesota recognized with a prestigious manufacturing award credits the culture of the company.

Eric Fisher says the plant in Jackson is the first agricultural manufacturer to receive the AME Excellence designation.

“What is culture?  Well, for us the first thing I’ll say is passion.  And we’re fortunate to be located in southwest Minnesota, (which) is rural, so a lot of our employees have agriculture in their background.”

Fisher says AME, the Association of Manufacturing Excellence, thoroughly evaluated the Jackson AGCO facility.

AME north-central region president Bret Orr tells Brownfield AGCO has developed a very engaged workforce.

“They’re all very involved in that joint effort to drive towards operational excellence.  There’s an ability for them to really feel empowered there, sharing ideas on how to contribute to making AGCO products more competitive.”

AGCO, the largest employer in Jackson County, was also named the 2017 Plant of the Year by ASSEMBLY Magazine.

And the Association of Equipment Manufacturers recently recognized AGCO Corporation for its advocacy efforts through AEM’s “I Make America” campaign.
