Panthers LB claims Freeman played with concussion

Falcons running back Devonta Freeman had his game cut short on Sunday after suffering a concussion in the first quarter against the Cowboys. But according to a rival linebacker, Freeman shouldn't have been playing to begin with.

Panthers linebacker Thomas Davis tweeted that Freeman suffered a concussion during the Panthers-Falcons game in Week 9. Freeman was not placed in the concussion protocol after that game and was only listed on the Falcons' injury report with a knee injury.

Though there wasn't a notable hit from Week 9's game in Carolina that would support Davis' claim, it's definitely unusual to see an NFL player allege that a team was hiding a concussion given the recent focus on the NFL's concussion protocol. The hit on Freeman by Anthony Hitchens appeared to be violent enough to cause a concussion on its own, and Freeman was noticeably dazed after that hit. He was ruled out of the game almost immediately.

Just in the past week, Colts quarterback Jacoby Brissett played with a concussion and Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson failed to go through mandated concussion testing before entering a game.
