WISN-TV names new weekend morning news anchor

Eden Checkol has been named weekend morning news anchor at WISN-TV (Channel 12).
Checkol, who had been a morning reporter/anchor at WISC-TV in Madison, also will be a reporter during weekday newscasts.
Checkol will begin her reporter role at WISN next week, and start her weekend anchor duties Nov. 11.
In the morning anchor slot, she is replacing Tim Elliott, who will have an expanded role as a reporter for the ABC affiliate's evening newscasts.
Before working at WISC in Madison, Checkol, a Twin Cities native, was a reporter at a TV station in Duluth, Minn., and interned at stations in the Twin Cities.
The addition of Checkol is WISN's latest retooling of its weekend morning newscast. This summer, weekend morning anchor Andy Choi moved to weekdays, co-anchoring with Melinda Davenport, with Elliott taking over the anchor desk July 1.
