The Marquette women's basketball team celebrates its Big East tournament title last season.

The Marquette women's basketball team lost only one player to graduation from a squad that won the Big East tournament last season.

Expectations are high heading into this season and that was reflected in the Golden Eagles landing at No. 19 in the USA Today preseason top 25 coaches poll.

It is MU's highest preseason ranking ever. The Golden Eagles haven't appeared in the poll since 2011.

Last week, MU was the unanimous choice to win the Big East in a preseason poll while Allazia Blockton was picked to win player of the year.

The Golden Eagles finished 25-8 last season and lost, 68-65, to Quinnipiac in the first round of the NCAA Tournament.

MU begins this season at New Mexico on Nov. 13.
