One of the sweet spots on the SPG award chart is the category 2 Four Points Ventura Harbor in Ventura, California. The value here is the proximity of the hotel to the Pacific Ocean and the discount rate of 3,000 points on Friday and Saturday when rates tend to be the highest at this property.
The rooms at the Four Points are fairly standard rooms in two wings with balconies and harbor views.
The beach is beyond the harbor.
One of the best features of this property are the outdoor facilities with tennis courts and basketball court, pool and spa.

The location of Four Points Ventura Harbor off Highway 101 makes this hotel a good spot to stop on a California coastal drive before going into the Los Angeles area south or heading up to the Big Sur coast and Monterey/Santa Cruz/San Francisco to the north.
Ventura and Oxnard are the last cities on the coast before heading south into Los Angeles County. Mountains separate the agricultural valley area of Oxnard where Highway 101 heads inland and up a grade to the San Fernando Valley. Oxnard is also where Highway 101 and Highway 1 diverge with Pacific Coast Highway hugging the rocky Malibu coastline into Santa Monica. Hotel rates rise as you go north into the beach resort location of Santa Barbara or south into the Los Angeles metropolitan area.
Four Points Ventura Harbor is one of the best hotel deals for me when I travel south from Monterey in the afternoon and I can stop and stay the night before heading into Los Angeles in the morning after a night’s sleep.
Or Four Points Ventura Harbor is a great place to stay when I leave Los Angeles in the afternoon or evening and I don’t want to drive the entire 300 miles up the coast back to Monterey. Four Points Ventura is about 75 miles northwest of LAX Airport.
Ventura is the launching point for boats to the Channel Islands National Park.
Ventura is a popular location for beach travelers on weekends and the rates at this hotel tend to be higher on Friday and Saturday nights to coincide with the weekend rate drop from 4,000 to 3,000 Starpoints for these two nights.
