Dior Christmas 2017

I love everything about this jewelly collection, Precious Rocks, from Dior. If anything is going to get you in the party mood, it’s this with its lavish golden tones and pops of light reflecting ruby. Where Chanel went pared back, Dior has gone all in for the glam – it makes me want to bath in sequins or … er, something!

It’s also quite a small collection: two palettes, four polishes, five lipsticks, a nail liner and a shimmer puff. I love the lipsticks with their pointy tips – very unexpected. They’re called Diorific Khol, are a matte formula, and that pointy end really does work to line the lip first and then fill in. I’m assuming (because I haven’t applied 100 times) that the point will stay because of the way that you then apply – so it’s like a self sharpening pencil! The shades I have here are Pure Topaz and Bold Amethyst (which is really quite something when it’s on). They’re £29.50 each.

Hmm.. spot the trouble with reflective gold casing!

Staying with the 5 Couleurs format but giving the shades a faceted edge, this is Precious Rocks Ruby. It’s £40 but if you can cast your mind away from it being just for the festive season, these are all colours that will transition into next year because the sunset vibe is going nowhere.

There isn’t a colour in here that I couldn’t or wouldn’t wear, particularly the central red shade which is gorgeous.

The final piece I have to show you is the Diorific Precious Rocks highlighter. It’s very, very twinkly – a little goes an extremely long way and if this doesn’t last you a decade you are probably over-lit! It’s £40.

See? I think that’s pretty spectacular.

The Nail Liner (gold) works so well – it has a very fine brush that makes it easy just to do a touch of gold at the tips and I wasn’t expecting it to be as easy as it was. The nail shade is Ruby and it’s almost exactly the same as the central shade in the 5 Couleurs palette of the same name.

The collection launches in November – it’s one of the later festive launches as everyone has gone so early this year.
