70% of U.S. soybeans, 38% of corn harvested

The U.S. corn and soybean harvests are still both slower than average, but beans pulled close to normal last week. Producers in many areas were able to make good progress on beans ahead of widespread rainfall last weekend into the early part of this week.

As of Sunday, 70% of soybeans are harvested, compared to the five year average of 73%. 97% of the crop is dropping leaves, matching the usual pace.

38% of corn is harvested, compared to 59% typically this time of year as producers focus on beans. 96% of the crop is mature, compared to 97% on average, and 66% of the crop is rated good to excellent, up 1%.

75% of winter wheat is planted, compared to 80% normally, and 52% has emerged, compared to 57% on average.

42% of U.S. pastures and rangelands are in good to excellent shape, up 2% from last week.
