Minnesota farmers harvest a third of soybean acres last week

A dryer weather pattern allowed Minnesota farmers to harvest a third of their soybean acres last week.

In its latest Crop Progress Report, the USDA says soybean harvest statewide is now 83 percent done—about a week behind normal.

As corn for silage harvest neared completion, almost all grain corn has reached maturity.

At 14 percent, corn for grain harvest is two weeks behind last year and 22 days off the five-year average.

Sunflower harvest advanced 30 points surpassing the halfway point, while potato and sugar beet harvest moved to 94 and 85 percent finished, respectively.
