Milk futures up, cash dairy mostly higher

Class III milk futures at the Chicago Mercantile Exchange were up, buying back part of last Friday’s losses. October was $.01 higher at $16.61, November was up $.26 at $15.98, December was $.23 higher at $15.72, and January was up $.21 at $15.39.

Cash cheese blocks were $.0425 higher at $1.7125. Six loads were sold, including two at $1.67. The last unfilled bid was on one load at $1.7125. The last uncovered offer was for one load at $1.72. Barrels were up $.02 $166. Two loads were sold, one at $1.66 and one at $1.65. The last unfilled bid was on one load at $1.6575. The last uncovered offer was for one load at $1.67.

Butter was $.03 lower at $2.32. Five loads were sold, including two at $2.32. The last unfilled bid was on one load at $2.31. The last uncovered offer was for two loads at $2.32.

Nonfat dry milk was $.015 higher at $.755. Four loads were sold, including two at $.755. The last unfilled bid was on one load at $.7425. The last uncovered offer was for one load at $.755.

Cooperatives Working Together announced the acceptance of 14 requests for export assistance from member co-ops, covering 1.702 million pounds of Cheddar, Gouda, and Monterey Jack cheeses, along with 144,403 pounds of butter. The products are headed to Asia, the Middle East, and North Africa, with delivery slated for October 2017 through January 2018.
