Seattle Seahawks wide receiver Doug Baldwin shoved offensive line coach Tom Cable on the sidelines midway through the second quarter of Sunday’s game against the New York Giants during an animated moment captured by CBS’ television broadcast.

Baldwin, a starting wide receiver, was seen pushing Cable with his left hand while using his right hand to grab the front of quarterback Russell Wilson’s jersey. Right tackle Germain Ifedi appeared to grab Baldwin’s arm in an effort to diffuse the confrontation, with head coach Pete Carroll also nearby.

Baldwin said that he was "really frustrated with the team as a whole, with the offense as a whole" and not with Cable.

"I lost my cool. It's 100% my fault," Baldwin told reporters after the game. "Y'all know I love Cable to death. Me and Cable have one of the best relationships from coach to player. So that was 100% my fault. I already apologized to him. He knows how I am. It's just, at that moment, the players needed to realize it's the players; It's not the coaches."

The Seahawks were trailing 7-0 at the time and struggling to put together a productive drive. Carroll said in his postgame news conference that he had told Cable to get the offense together and Baldwin was frustrated that Cable, not Wilson, was addressing the team first.

"He was trying to hold him off because he wanted Russ to have his chance (to speak) right there. Ain't no big deal," Carroll said.

"The cool thing was that Doug was making sure that Russell had his chance to rally the guys, because he was fired up."

The Seahawks went on to score 24 unanswered points en route to a 24-7 win, with Baldwin playing a major part. The 29-year-old finished with nine catches for 92 yards and a touchdown.

Baldwin said afterward that he wishes he would have conveyed his frustration and delivered his message to the offense a bit differently. Asked about what exactly he was saying, Baldwin smiled.

"Things that I can't repeat here," he said. "The basic sentiment was, 'What are we doing? We have all the talent in the world, we have everything we need right here. It's not the play-calling, it's not the X's and O's, it's not the other team — it's us. All we need to do is settle down and play our game.' "
