Tennessee Vols get Kentucky Wildcats up next

Kentucky quarterback Stephen Johnson has thrown for 1,355 yards with nine touchdowns and four interceptions.

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. — Tennessee and its next opponent, the Kentucky Wildcats, each lost by the same 45-7 margin on Saturday. The Vols were whipped by No. 1 Alabama, and Kentucky lost by that 38-point margin to Mississippi State.

Before Saturday, every Kentucky game this season had been decided by 11 points or fewer.

The Vols (3-4, 0-4 SEC) will play Kentucky (5-2, 2-2) on Saturday (7:30 p.m. ET, SEC Network) in Lexington.

The Wildcats rank 12th in the SEC in total offense and ninth in total defense.

Quarterback Stephen Johnson has been efficient, completing 61.2 percent of his passes for 1,355 yards with nine touchdowns and four interceptions. But UK's running attack is not nearly as good as it was last year. Running back Benny Snell leads the team with 541 yards on 133 carries with six TDs. Garrett Johnson (32 receptions, 369 yards, two TDs) is the team's top wide receiver.

Safety Mike Edwards leads Kentucky with 54 tackles and three interceptions.

The Vols lead the all-time series 79-24-9. They've won 31 of the past 32 matchups, with the only loss during that span coming in 2011.

During the Butch Jones era, the Vols have outscored the Wildcats 178-87 in their four previous meetings.
