Illinois farmer says yields surprisingly good

A west-central Illinois farmer is about half done with harvest and says his yields are good, “We’re pleasantly surprised. I wasn’t sure we were going to have the kind of yields that we’re pulling out. But, it’s been a pleasant surprise.”

Two-and-a-half inches of rain last Saturday made Ron Moore switch to harvesting corn for a couple of days early this week.

It was pretty dry in his area, near Roseville, at different times during the summer, “I felt like it was going to damage our yields but, boy, they’re doing really well right now.”

Moore is president of the American Soybean Association.
