Weekly Wrap-Up

Happy Friday, y’all! I hope you’ve all had a wonderful week. Mine has been good. A little on the busy side for this introverted homebody, but good. And it’s fall! This week has finally felt like fall. It’s been sunny but cool. I love it!

The bunnies love it, too. I put them on our screened-in deck every morning, and they are loving the cool fall weather.

We had a wedding to attend Saturday evening. It was an outdoor wedding and the weather was perfect. It was a beautiful ceremony but I had a little trouble not being distracted during the reception.

Why? Because I knew we were going to have our own engagement to announce soon and I was waiting for the text!

Aren’t they an adorable couple? I’m going to have such beautiful grandbabies some day!

Brianna’s boyfriend is now officially Brianna’s fiancé and we couldn’t be happier for them! I love how excited we all are. Josh posted on Facebook that he finally has a brother. {happy sigh}

They’ve set a date for February 2019, so we’ve got some time, but wedding planning has begun.

On Sunday, we had an out-of-town birthday party to attend for Brian’s grandmother. Josh drove separately because he had to be back at church that evening to run audio for youth worship.

Andrew, Brianna’s fiancé, asked if Brian could help him change the brake pads on his car when we got home. They made plans to get the parts and we headed toward home. On the way, Josh called and said he was in the church parking lot and oil was pouring from his car.

(Technically, it’s Megan’s car since Josh’s car was out of commission due to {insert mechanical problem that I don’t understand here} that happened last Thursday. It spent Monday in the shop.)

So, we sent Brianna and Andrew to get the parts for his car, and we headed toward the church. Turns out that when Brian got the oil changed a week or so ago, the mechanic didn’t tighten the oil drain cap. It was gone and Josh had about two quarts of oil underneath his car.

It must have happened right before he got to the church because his oil pressure light never came on and he didn’t have any problems. Thank goodness! That could have caused serious engine damage.

I have such beautiful babies. {sigh}

Instead, we only needed a $1.25 oil drain cap and a few quarts of oil. The Honda dealership did change the oil and detail the car, which had oil all over the back of it, on Monday and our next oil change is free.

While we were dealing with that, Brianna called. She and Andrew had driven her car since he was having serious brake trouble. His car was at our house. The keys to his car were at his house. Two hours away.

They headed back to his house to get the keys since the gas to go to and from was still cheaper than a locksmith. Brian planned to change the brake pads while they were gone, but we stopped to get some food on the way home since we were all starving by that point.

We wound up waiting 30 minutes for fast food. It was crazy. When we got home, we sat down to eat and just as we were starting, we heard the bottom drop out of the sky.

Brian wound up setting up a sunshade canopy over Andrew’s car and changing the brake pads in the rain. It was a fun day, y’all.

Monday and Tuesday were just as busy and almost as eventful, but I’ll have a 2,000 word Weekly Wrap-Up if I go into all that. Suffice it to say that I’m ready for a day to relax.

Wednesday, Megan had her second driving lesson with the driving instructor. No wrecks this time! He took her on the Interstate for the first time. Y’all, she loved it! She said it was fun driving faster and she doesn’t know why people stress about and avoid the Interstate. I’m in trouble. {sigh}

Then, yesterday, Brian called me at 6:30 a.m. A really bad wreck happened right in front of him! It involved an SUV and a semi. Both flipped. Thankfully, everyone was okay. In fact, the driver that caused the wreck was okay enough to flee the scene on foot. I’ll be curious to hear the rest of that story.

I am so thankful Brian wasn’t involved. If I understood him correctly, he was right behind the car that caused the wreck. He was getting ready to pass the semi. He could have easily been right beside it when the wreck occurred.

Did I mention that I’m ready for an uneventful weekend??
