Gary man arrested in deaths of 2 women in burning vehicle in Indianapolis

Two bodies were found inside this burning vehicle in the 1600 block of North Goodlet Avenue on the west side early on Saturday, Sept. 30, 2017, according to Indianapolis police.

A Gary man has been arrested in connection to the shooting deaths of two women whose bodies were found on the west side in burning vehicle. 

Tywan James, 30, was arrested Tuesday by members of the U.S. Marshals Service on a murder warrant, according to an Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department news release.

Officials said James was wanted for his suspected involvement in the fatal shooting of Martina Webb and Aliyah Igartua, both from Gary.

The women were found dead shortly after midnight Sept. 30 in a burning car parked in the 1600 block of North Goodlet Avenue.

James was arrested in Hammond and has not yet been extradited back to Indianapolis, police said.

Information about the circumstances of the shooting has not been released. The case remains under investigation.
