Scotty McCreery, American country music singer and rising star, was interviewed Tuesday by Ruidoso News.

McCreery was only allotted 10 minutes for the interview and for 10 minutes, he very graciously answered questions.

When asked what is most important to him in life, McCreery answered, “faith, family, and friends.” He said his faith plays a big role in his life and he makes his decisions off that. “Family and friends keep me grounded,” he said.

When asked what his growing up years were like, he said he had two loves while growing up, “baseball and music. I don’t remember any time in my life when I wasn’t singing.”

McCreery commented on his recent engagement, “we first met in kindergarten.” He said after he is married, he plans on “being a husband and not spending quite as much time on the road.”

“I try to get together with my family in Garner, North Carolina as much as possible, McCreery said, “they keep me level-headed.”.

McCreery said he relaxes during his busy schedule by “going to the mountains of North Carolina and  hiking, skiing, and playing golf. He said he will most likely like the countryside and mountains of this area.

It was a very short ten minutes and at the end of the interview, it was evident that the many comments made about McCreery are true—he is very spiritual, humble, polite, and friendly—and his deep, smooth voice is awesome!

McCreery grew up in Garner, North Carolina where his family still lives. He was only 17 when he appeared on the American Idol on May 25, 2011. He won the competition and his career was off and running.

His album sales now are approaching 3 million and he has received both Platinum and Gold album certifications and has achieved one Gold and three Platinum-certified singles and two Top Ten hits.

As well as piling up the musical hits, McCreery has written a book, “Go Big or Go Home” which is the “story of a kid with country songs in his soul.”

McCreery gives back and has supported many charitable causes including St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, The 12.14 Foundation, World Vision, MLB RBI (Reviving Baseball in Inner Cities), The Opry Trust Fund, and a variety of organizations in his native North Carolina.

It appears that McCreery’s journey through life will fulfill his dreams of a great musical career while his character and values stay grounded.

McCreery said he is looking forward to his appearance at the Inn of the Mountain Gods in Mescalero. He will be appearing at 8 p.m., Friday, Oct. 27. Tickets may be purchased online: https://www.vividseats.com/concerts/scotty-mccreery-tickets.html or call (800) 545-9011.
