Police said a 12-year-old girl was walking home from Charter Middle School about 3 p.m. and was approached by a man in a tan 4-door vehicle with tinted windows.

The man pulled up alongside her and called her over to his vehicle, police reported. She ignored him, but he screamed at her to come to his vehicle. The girl approached the vehicle close enough to get a look at the driver, whom she described to authorities as having a thin build, gray hair, a beard and glasses.

The man asked the girl whether she needed a ride home, police said, and the student ran from the area and called her mother to ask to be picked up.

The girl told police she never had seen the man or the car before.

Anyone with information about the man or the vehicle can call Marco police at 239-389-5050.
