Minnesota Beef Expo begins Thursday

The Minnesota Beef Expo begins Thursday and the coordinator says the show has enhanced youth beef education efforts throughout the state and region.

Kent Thiesse says the Expo provides a great opportunity for young people starting in the beef program.

“They can buy a heifer or a club calf at the sale Saturday and turn around and show it Sunday.  You’ve got a lot of experts around to give them advice.  And then we tie in a lot of special events like the Youth Knowledge Bowl and Beef Judging Contest, as well as the seminars, fitting programs, (and) showmanship competitions.”

The Minnesota Beef Expo runs through Sunday with the trade show opening Friday on the State Fairgrounds in St. Paul.
