Rain continues to slow harvest in Ohio

Wet conditions continue to slow harvest in Ohio this week.

According to the latest USDA Crop and Weather report, 21 percent of the corn crop has been harvested for grain and 86 percent is mature. Ninety-one percent of the corn has been harvested for silage.

Soybean harvest is 54 percent complete and 95 percent of the soybean crop is dropping leaves.

Eighty-nine percent of the fourth cutting of alfalfa hay is complete.

Topsoil moisture is 85 percent and subsoil moisture is 76 percent adequate to surplus.

Rain has helped with winter wheat emergence and hay cuttings are nearing completion.
