A man with a gun reported on the University of Wisconsin-Madison campus Monday night after a robbery has left the area, according to UW-Madison police.

The gunman was reported near the intersection of University Ave. and Randall Ave. and was seen fleeing toward Union South, according to a Campus Alert from UW-Madison police posted shortly after 8 p.m.

Police described the man as 6 feet tall, wearing a red hooded shirt, dark skinny jeans, a ski mask and a scarf.

People on campus were warned to seek a safe location but campus police later said the area is safe and that the City of Madison Police Department was investigating the incident.
