Aaron Rodgers to undergo surgery for broken collarbone, season still in jeopardy

Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers broke his collarbone against the Minnesota Vikings Sunday and, according to Packers coach Mike McCarthy, will have to have surgery.

Green Bay Packers coach Mike McCarthy told reporters Monday that quarterback Aaron Rodgers will require surgery on his broken collarbone.

Rodgers was injured when Minnesota Vikings linebacker Anthony Barr drove him to the turf as he was rolling out. With Rodgers sidelined for the remainder of the game, the Packers lost 23-10 to the Vikings.

McCarthy didn't say when he expected Rodgers to be able to return, but said the quarterback would miss a "significant amount of time." He reiterated the team's earlier claim that Rodgers could be out for the remainder of the season.

Brett Hundley came in for Rodgers on Sunday and was 18 of 33 for 157 yards with one touchdown and three interceptions. The only other quarterback on the roster is Joe Callahan, who was promoted from the practice squad on Monday.

"The quarterback room is exactly where it needs to be," McCarthy said. "We're committed to the path we're on. We need to play better as a football team."
