Revlon Pro Collection Salon One Step Hair Dryer and Volumizer #AD

Back in May I reviewed the Revlon One Step Hair Dryer And Styler and this time it’s the turn of the Dryer and Volumizer. I have to admit that I was initially sceptical because of the size of it – it’s quite a piece of equipment. However, you really do need to put it to use to realise how impressive it is at giving sleek and volumized hair.

I have almost the perfect hair for this tool – mid-length, naturally (lightly) curly that I prefer to wear straight, and not particularly knotty. I’m actually quite fearful of too much volume – don’t give me massive hair because it makes me feel self-conscious! So, this trial was done with trepidation.

I can’t not say that initially I found it heavier than my regular drier – that’s the one thing I’d change, but other than that, don’t be put off by the size of it because it needs to be that way to give the results. I didn’t have any arm fatigue at the end of the style and dry by the way, so actually it’s not overly weighty. Obviously, it’s a bonus that it dries and styles at the same time – it takes a few moments to get into the rhythm of it – and my personal top tip is to section your hair before you start. I did a very quick rough dry with my normal dryer first to get the initial wetness off (I try not to scrub away with a towel because it’s so bad for your hair).

After you’ve sectioned, you’ll find that you can get the brush part of the styler really close to the roots (hence the oval shape) and then just pull the brush through as you would your regular styling brush. The effect of brushing and drying with such a big brush means that it’s quick and you see the effect straight away.

The cord sort of swivels around as you go so it’s all rather seamless – I would say it took me around 20 minutes to do my whole head. The effect is spectacular – I looked like I’d just walked out of the hairdresser rather than my bedroom! And, my fears of huge hair were allayed – I didn’t use any styling products at all so it just fell into a natural, bouncy style that looked fresh and groomed. I’m genuinely pleased to have this tool – it’s giving a level up performance than just dryer and straightener alone and it’s very well worth the extra effort.

It’s not for you if you have very short bob because the barrel is big and you need to have enough hair to get some grip, but otherwise, it’s an all-rounder. Remember, the thicker your hair, the more layers you should section it into to get a sleek finish.
