Prep roundup: Immokalee, Naples cross country finish strong at Trojan Invitational

The Immokalee, Naples, Palmetto Ridge, Gulf Coast, Estero, Marco Island Academy, First Baptist Academy, Community School, St. John Neumann and Lely High School cross country teams competed in the Lely Trojan Invitational on Saturday.

The Immokalee boys finished fourth of 27 in the Varsity 5k race, followed by Lely in sixth, Palmetto Ridge in seventh, Marco Island in eighth, Estero in ninth, Community School in 14th, Gulf Coast in 15th, St. John Neumann 18th and First Baptist in 23rd.

Mackenson Yrelus finished fifth of 194 runners for the Indians, in 17:30.60. Christian Garcia crossed eighth for the Bears (17:34.60). Anthony Alvarez finished 22nd for the Trojans (18:03.23). Johnathan Watt finished 25th for the Manta Rays (18:13.23). Edgar Laureano crossed 40th for the Wildcats (18:56.96). Austin Flynn crossed 46th for the Lions (19:09.56). Mitchell Verhelle finished 62nd for the Seahawks (19:49.17). Chris Foster finished 63rd for the Sharks (19:49.27) and Timothy Birmingham crossed 67th for the Celtics (19:52.82).

Ricky Govin finished 40th for Naples. The Golden Eagles were not scored.

The Naples girls finished fifth of 22 in the Varsity 5k, followed by Lely in seventh, Estero in eighth, Palmetto Ridge in 10th, Community School in 11th, First Baptist in 12th, Marco Island in 13th, Gulf Coast in 14th and St. John Neumann in 17th.

Alayna Goll finished second of 154 for the Wildcats (19:18.38). Jillian Dempsey finished fifth for the Golden Eagles (20:02.76). Olivia Watt crossed sixth for the Manta Rays (20:06.40). Ryenn Hart crossed 12th for the Trojans (20:45.66). Morgan Palmer finished 17th for the Bears (21:02.31). Katie Beam finished 21st for the Lions (21:39.65). Bridget Krauss finished 39th for the Seahawks (22:57.73). Margaret Sullivan crossed 48th for the Celtics (23:17.53) and Katrina Balon finished 78th for the Sharks (24:57.58).
