Knoxville area high school football top performers in Week 9

Morgan Ernst continued dominating on both sides of the ball on Friday night, but this time, the senior added a little history to his extraordinary season.

In the 42-21 win over Chattanooga Christian, Ernst finished the night with seven carries for 215 yards and three touchdowns on offense while racking up 16 tackles on defense, which helped push his career tackle total to over 500. To add to a career night from Ernst, the win was Webb High School’s 400th win in the school’s history.

Stanton Martin, Anderson Co.: Martin completed 17 of 25 passing attempts for 233 yards and four touchdowns while also running the ball seven times for 62 yards and a score in the Mavericks 47-0 win over Chattanooga Central. 

Marquise Gallaher, Anderson Co.: Gallaher ran the ball nine times for 65 yards and touchdown. On defense, he had five tackles and a sack in the win. 

Michael Carroll, Anderson Co.: Carroll caught five passes for 115 yards and a touchdown in the win. 

Dalton Wilson, Anderson Co.: Wilson reached his eighth straight game with a touchdown catch and finished with three catches for 19 yards. 

D.J. Cox, Bearden: Cox  had 23 carries for 115 yards and one touchdown run with two receptions for eight yards in a 31-14 loss to Farragut.

Shawn Marcum, Campbell County: Marcum led his team with 10 receptions for 136 yards and a 61-yard touchdown, but Campbell Co. fell 44-14 to Fulton.

Jack Sompayrac, Catholic: Sompayrac was 6-of-7 for 205 yards and three touchdowns, in the 63-42 win over Walker Valley.

Nicklaus Iverson, Catholic: Iverson had five carries for 99 yards and one touchdown, in the 63-42 win over Walker Valley.

Eli Stone, Claiborne: Stone was 9-of-13 for 217 yards and three touchdowns, in the 36-17 win over Chuckey-Doak.

Lucas Neely, Claiborne: Neely had 11 tackles and five solo tackles, in the 36-17 win over Chuckey-Doak.

Haydn Hollin, Claiborne: Hollin had three receptions for 125 yards and two touchdowns, in the 36-17 win over Chuckey-Doak.

Isaiah Gibbs, Farragut: Gibbs had 22 carries for 180 yards and one touchdown in the 31-14 win against Bearden.

Gavin Wilkinson, Farragut.: Wilkinson was 9-of-19 for 106 yards and one touchdown in the 31-14 win over Bearden.

Xavier Malone, Fulton: Malone threw the ball 22 times with 14 completions for 232 yards and three touchdowns in Fulton’s big win over Campbell Co.

Cody Este, Grace Christian Academy: Este had 17 rushes for 93 yards and one touchdown in the 35-27 loss to Notre Dame.

Andrew Sorrells, Grace Christian: Sorrells had 14 tackles in the 35-27 loss to Notre Dame.

Blake Rankin, Grace Christian: Rankin had 11 tackles and 1.5 total tackles for loss and 0.5 sack, in the 35-27 loss to Notre Dame.

Grant Warwick, Grace Christian: Warwick had three kick returns for 128 yards, in the 35-27 loss to Notre Dame.

Noel Leyva, Gibbs: Leyva had 18 carries for a total of 146 yards and two touchdowns, in a 28-27 loss to Halls.

Zach Meyers, Gibbs: Meyers had five tackles with one sack and one tackle for loss, in a 28-27 loss to Halls.

Jacob Bunch, Grainger: Bunch had eight carries for 187 yards rushing and four rushing touchdowns, one catch with 32 yards receiving , in the 68-12 win over Sullivan Central.

Zac Courter, Grainger: Courter had seven carries for 48 yards with one rushing touchdown, 3 two point conversion runs, 1 two point conversion pass and 2-of-2 passing for 57 yards, in the 68-12 win over Sullivan Central. 

TJ Holmes, Halls: Holmes was everywhere on defense for Halls in their 28-27 win over Gibbs. Holmes had 14 tackles, one forced fumble and one fumble recovery. He also rushed three times for 39 yards and a touchdown. 

Hunter Huff, Halls: Huff also brought the house on defense, finishing with 11 tackles, two for a loss, and two fumble recoveries in the win. Huff also had two catches for 100 yards and a score on offense. 

Jordan Biliter, Halls: Biliter recorded 11 tackles and blocked a punt in the win.

Hunter Woods, Halls: Woods recorded a team-high 15 tackles for Halls in the win. 

Zac Acuff, Hardin Valley: The freshman quarterback was called upon in the third quarter and finished the night 12-for-20 with 182 yards and three touchdowns in a 36-25 loss to Dobyns-Bennett.

Brandon Plemens, Kingston: Plemens completed all but three of his 18 passes for 189 yards and a touchdown in a 42-14 loss to Alcoa. 

Aaron Swafford, Meigs County: Swafford was 7-of-17 passing for 117 yards and two touchdowns, he also carried the ball 16 times for 139 yards and two touchdowns in the 28-6 win over Oneida.

Jawan Martin, Meigs County: Martin had 13 tackles in the 28-6 win against Oneida.

Justin Howard, Northview: Howard was 6-of-19 for 168 yards and 10 carries for 112 yards and one touchdown, in the 35-18 win over Scott.

Jeremy Mitchell, Oak Ridge: Mitchell recorded five tackles but had three sacks in Oak Ridge’s 42-6 win over Clinton.

TJ Johnson, Oak Ridge: Johnson had only two tackles but caught an interception and returned it 24 yards for a touchdown.

Johnny Stewart, Oak Ridge: Stewart threw the ball 18 times with 10 completions for 183 yards and three touchdowns in Oak Ridge’s win.

Caleb Martin, Oak Ridge: Martin caught three passes for 126 yards and two scores in the Wildcats’ win.

Brandon Burgess, King’s Academy: Burgess was 17-of-29 passing for 112 yards, in the 21-7 loss to Friendship Christian.

Jahlil Jefferson, Webb: Jefferson had nine carries for 120 yards and two rushing touchdowns plus a blocked extra point, in the 42-21 win over Chattanooga Christian.

Stone Cummins, Webb: Cummins had 15 tackles and one sack, in the 42-21 win over Chattanooga Christian.
