Vols football: Tyler Byrd calls out South Carolina defensive back on Twitter

Apparently, Tennessee wide receiver Tyler Byrd is not all that impressed with South Carolina defensive back Rashad Fenton.

Earlier this week, the Gamecocks put out a video on Twitter of Fenton's season highlights to-date, labeling him "Fenton Island."

Tennessee wide receiver Tyler Byrd (10) during Tennessee fall football practice at Anderson Training Facility in Knoxville, Tennessee on Tuesday, October 10, 2017.

The Tennessee sophomore wide receiver chimed in with his thoughts on Thursday, saying the island "doesn't exist" before the Vols (3-2, 0-2 SEC) host the Gamecocks (4-2, 2-2) on Saturday (noon ET, ESPN) at Neyland Stadium.

Byrd caught 15 passes for 209 yards as a freshman in 2016, but his 2017 season is off to a slow start. He has caught two passes for 21 yards and touchdown, all against UMass on Sept. 23.

Meanwhile, Fenton has 22 tackles and three pass break-ups, while not allowing a touchdown through six games. He also has limited opposing wide receivers week in and week out.

A handful of Fenton's South Carolina teammates jumped to his defense, including wide receiver Deebo Samuel, cornerback Chris Lammons and defensive lineman Dante Sawyer.
