JFK to San Francisco, American Airlines, 3 class service

I was lucky enough to enjoy a single AA segment from JFK to San Francisco on their three class B767-200 planes. These will be phased out in 2014 so this was a final chance to raise a glass to one of my favourite domestic planes.

The three class service is nice, although all the more modern improvements will be coming with the new planes. The seats are not flat, but are very comfy. The entertainment is via personal tablets you have to plug in.

The dinner flight menu was:

Drink:
Ballentine Vineyards Chenin Blanc, warm nuts and marinated cheese

The food was excellent and the staff very attentive. I really enjoyed the flight and the quality of service reminded me of travel from 20 years ago, when it was a luxury and a treat.

We arrived 30 minutes early in San Francisco, after I had taken a short nap.

  1. You don’t actually specify it, but this is the first class meal on the three class flight. J is usually not as well presented.

You sat in 2D, the “throne,” which is my favorite seat. 🙂
