FHP: Traffic stop on I-75 in Collier turns up stolen credit cards, fake IDs, steroids

Florida Highway Patrol troopers reported they arrested a driver and passenger after finding numerous stolen credit cards and fraudulent ID cards during a traffic stop Wednesday afternoon on Interstate 75.

Troopers reported they stopped the 2005 Nissan Maxima about 2:50 p.m. at mile marker 98 in Collier County because it had illegal window tints.

A K-9 alerted troopers to an illegal substance in the vehicle, the report states. Further investigation revealed numerous stolen credit cards, fraudulent identifications, several vials of steroids and multiple syringes, according to the report.

The driver, Zaidel Cardoza, 28, and Samuel Casamayor Abreu, 26, were taken to the Collier County Jail.

Cardoza is charged with:

  • 16 felony fraud counts of unlawful possession of counterfeit ID cards.
  • Unlawful possession of personal identification, which is felony fraud.
  • 18 felony larceny counts of possessing stolen credit cards.
  • Four felony counts of possessing a controlled substance.
  • Misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia.

Abreu is charged with:  

  • Felony possession of a counterfeit ID card.
  • Felony larceny — possession of a stolen credit card.
  • Misdemeanor unlawful possession of personal identification.
